Thanks a lot, @twhite . See what you started? I am excited to be receiving this Henckels Rapide, hopefully by Saturday. Thanks to Jayaruh Brushes, I was able to acquire this fine razor. I am hoping the blade is in good shape. It appears to be so. I may have to get Tom to hone it for me. We shall see. Anyhow, here it it:
Congrats Jim! Looks like you actually got two blades. Looks like there's one in the blade holder on the near side of the handle in the first pic.
The Henckels arrived a day early. I was pleasantly surprised to see it in my PO program. I went down to the box and retrieved it. The first picture is my first glimpse of it. Then, I removed the contents for a picture. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were actually three blades in the set, two J.A. Henckels and one other. The razor had some soap scum build up. The first thing I did was to spray it with bathroom cleaner and put it in a bath of hot water and Dawn liquid. After some work with a toothbrush and a rinse with hot water, I dried it off and took the following pictures.
Nice Catch..Those are Lovely Shavers with a Properly Honed Blade..Those are Both Swedish Steel Blades You have there..I think they Ground them in Germany..They are Full Hollow Grinds & Take a Wicked But Smooth Shaving Edge..The Rapide is a Fairly Mid to Aggressive Shaver.. Couple of Mine..Freshly Honed.. Billy..
I actually shaved one cheek with one of the Henckels blades this morning. It did a fine job, too. I plan to use all three blades in tomorrow's shave just to see how they shave. Then I will send off the two neediest to @twhite for a little honemeister magic. My new Henckels came with three blades: two J.A. Henckels blades of Germany, and one C.V. Heljestrand of Sweden. Here are some pictures I took. J.A. Henckels #1 J.A. Henckels #2 The C.V. Heljestrand is marked Hoffritz, N.Y. on one side. The Henckels blades in the razors. Blade in the Henckels. Blade in the Gem Jr.
