My shoulder has been doing pretty good, and I did get released from my physical therapy, so I thought I would see what I could do today without overdoing it. I moved my equipment out onto the car port and set up to work on some handles. I turned out three handles. They are ready for their finish, but I thought I would give you a preview. Final knots have not been determined, so the knots are just for show. I made the handles with pheasant wood. This is Jayaruh #148. This is #149. This is #150.
I like 150. All of them are very nice. Wish I had the time to get into this. Looks like fun. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
#148 and #150 are very similar. They will have different kinds of knots though. #149 will probably get the Omega boar.
Thank you. It is the first time I have gotten the lathe out since my surgery. I don't have a proper shop, so I have to move my equipment out of my shed to work with it. Up until now, I have just been using the Dremel and small tools. Today, I broke out the lathe, table saw, and drill press. I did well, but I did take a couple of ibuprofens.
Look awesome. Personally I like 149 with the black hair over the boar. Really pulls out the dark grain
The lathe makes pretty quick work of shaping the handles. I haven't timed myself, but I spent about 2 1/2 hours on the three handles today. That included set up, lathe work, drilling the holes, some Dremel work, and clean up.
After two coats of polycrylic, I have taken a few pictures with a black synthetic knot. #148 #149 #150
Definitely the black knot looks great. All I can think of is Rich Dark Chocolate looking at those brushes with those knots!!
Thank you guys. Today, I am going to put the JR number on the bottom and put a final coat of poly on them. Then I will be waiting for the knots to arrive.
