Just curious... Why is Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum so popular?

I haven't smelled a BR yet, that didn't have a pretty strong smell of cloves/spices.

I thought the Clubman was not that overpowering. My wife gave me a bottle of CO Bigelow Bay Rum. It is a cream. Shame they don't still make it. It's not real heavy on alcohol and thin like regular AS. I think it has a good smell, not real strong on the spice.

I have yet to find one that will last over an hour or two. Wish it would last ALL day!

 

It may be popular, but I won't buy it. I want the Bay Rums with less of the clove scent, not more.

It's been awhile since I've tried it, but I found the cloves a bit overpowering. I may have to give it another shot in the future, it's been well over a year since I had any.

 

Well, they should try some Lilac Vegetal then, that should wake them up.

 

I think I'll use this necrotic thread as an excuse to throw some of the ol' VIBR at my face as well....I stopped using it because I started getting headaches from the cloves but I'll give it another go.

 

Great scent , nice burn , inexpensive.... All good. I think it smells like a bay rum should. I've had others that smell like flowers and such. Bay rum should have a clove and spice element. The only Clubman that I use regularly. The other Clubman scents just don't work for me . But as usual this is just my opinion y'all!

 

I decanted mine into a stainless flask. It looks great on the shelf and smells even better

Just an all in all great bay rum complete with the burn and great value!

I'll have to find some Canoe and see.

 

I enjoy VIBR also, only wish the scent lasted longer and I could find a local source. While I'm not crazy about the "straight from the fires of hell" burn There is one good thing about the burn for me. In that it's a good indicator of how well your shave went. When I get a near perfect BBS (close, smooth & razor burn free) there is little or no burn. Where when I shave overly aggressive I get the fires

 

Love me some Clubman VIBR!!
Used it this morning after shaving with Route 66 "Rum Runner".
They pair up great. Tried Captain's Choice and Ogallala. Was not impressed.
No worries mon!

 

It's cheap and very artificial smelling, especially when compared to natural bay rums.
Had a bottle a number of years ago. After several shaves using it, I found the VIBR far too 'clovey' for my taste.
