Ahh ride the cap, it occurred to me while I was cleaning some of my razors , I was looking at my vintage razors and noticed that most of them , the plating is worn on the cap, so the old timers knew what they were doing

Don't worry about how long it might take.
I'm negative ambidextrous. It takes me a long time to get good at anything that requires hand/eye coordination.
Some razors I figure out quickly and others I still haven't figured out yet.
And yes, there are razors that I just can't make work.
Keep doing what you're doing. Try different razors, swap heads and handles, try different blades, be patient, and have fun.

I have noticed that the second shave with a new razor is the worst. The first shave is almost always OK, as I am extra careful to listen to the feedback from a new razor and I am taking it slowly. The second shave seems to not get the same attention.

It took my about 3 shaves to get really good with my R41. Once you master a mild razor like the 34C it's really easy to become good with another razor IMO
