Here is my "stable". From left to right: Dollar Tree salsa bowl (2 for $1.00). Pretty much my go-to for creams. Has kind of a textured surface which aids in building a nice lather. Unbreakable. Burma Shave mug. Gift from one of my kids. Came with a brush that shed until bald. I use it to soak my brush pre-shave. Obviously just has the Burma Shave name on it as to my knowledge, Burma Shave did not make a shave soap, just a brushless cream. Georgetown Pottery G12 scuttle. Gift from one of my daughters this past Christmas. Use it on weekends or when time permits. Does a fine job of keeping the lather warm. Could spoil me! VDH starter kit bowl. Got this years ago when getting back to DE shaving. Came with a puck of soap and a boar brush. Used it for several years. Still like the color combo. Semi-retired.
Nice collection. Even though I am a face latherer the Georgetown Pottery scuttles call my name from time to time. Perhaps someday. As far as the Burma Shave soap it exists
Not a collection, but a present from Herself this past Christmas. Lenox Holiday pattern. She said she would rather see it than the clear glass bowl from Dollar Tree I was using.
I have the VDH from the kit and I picked up a plastic bowl with lid from Home Good. Has a rubber bottom, stops it from moving around too much. It just says Stuff on the side. Works out. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
Since I am a face-lathering guy, all my mugs and bowls hold just one soap except for my green glass bowl that just holds stuff. I use the green glass bowl for test lathering new brushes. I made lids for my cups so they could stack easily and save space.
It's long been discontinued, but you can find some on Amazon, if you're willing to pay $45 a puck for it. It's reputedly on par with modern Williams.
I almost forgot. I finally ordered me one of those Turkish hammered copper shave cups. Scheduled to arrive by March 22. It will end up holding some soap or just shaving stuff since I face lather.
I mainly use the Captain's bowl when I work from a loaded brush, and the Suribachi when putting product in the bowl to start.
Old spice mugs are one of those things that caught my eye. The far left one is ceramic and older that the two in the middle. Far right from a flea market for two bits. I tried to use them, but found face lathering easier. That was before I found out about suribachi bowls. Wider so I don't back my brush handles & textured to aid in incorporating air into lather. Most times I load a moist brush from the soap puck or drop a dollop of cream in the bowl to make lather.
My shave bowl from an Etsy artisan. Very nicely done and fits perfectly in my hand. I really like the turned over edge which keeps the lather in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
