Just received a Maggard MR6 safety razor.Excellent product, and excellent service from Brad and Casie Maggard!
I have an MR1 and it serves me well. Ditto on Brad & Casie!! FYI-The Maggard heads can be sensitive to blade adjustment. Always check to make sure the blade is even on both sides before tightening it down all the way.
POT METAL HEAD! ZAMAK! EEEEEVIIIILLLLL! You might drop it, you fool! I beat fram to it, so there! Dude, I been wanting that MR6 for some time! It's a tough call between the MR6 and the MR18, but I think the MR6 is a tiny bit heavier (can't double check at the moment). Thanks for the review. I'll stop thinking about it and just order one — like you said — but AFTER I get my next allowance. I've overspent (again). <sigh>
Thanks for the replies, everyone. maltedmilk, yeah, zamak. Not a problem since I don't plan on dropping it, and if I do $16 doesn't hurt too much. One of the huge pluses to these razors is the quality for the price. I'll be getting more, zamak or no zamak. But if you drop the MR6 and it lands on the head I'm pretty sure with the weight of this razor it WILL snap the head off. Casualties of war, as it were.
I have an MR8 coming (was supposed to have it already) but slow usps. It's a 150g handle and a 30g head. Stainless steel handle, alloy head.
