I remember students at my first college using Aramis. I bet they were thinking "Mannn...never heard of this before, but it smells GREAT!".
Hi there @JesusIsLord . I think that I began favoring the old-school manly scents when I was around your age. (I'm 59 now). Anyway, there was a mention in reply to your post of the Stirling Barbershop line. I currently have the aftershave, and it's nice. I plan to buy more Stirlings later. I love Clubman's products. That Ghost-Town Barbershop from Chiseled Face is something I may try later. Glad you like that one!
I'm now of the older, more mature generation, with my 53rd birthday just around the corner. The only aftershaves I use now are Ogallala Bay Rum, Ogallala Limes & Peppercorns and Avon Spicy. The wife approves of all of them. As far as soaps go, I just use whatever is up next. I don't find the scents to linger. Right now I am using a puck of TSD Old Spice type.
Axe! All scents. Ha! Made ya look Something that might be up your ally; sandalwood. I use Proraso red, and love the scent. I bought Stirling asb and find that a little"sweeter" both ver nice. Recently I discovered Arden sandalwood. Launched in 1955(ish). Old school, manly, sexy. Somewhat subtle, so your scent don't give advance notice before entering a room. I stays pretty close and lasts. A bonus, it's inexpensive
I think Axe is today's version of Drakkar, Polo, Grey Flannel, Ives Saint Laurent, <put your favorite 70's-80's scent from Macy's here>.
there aren't many of the old scents being made. and the ones that are, are not what they were even 20 years ago. So when trying to find a scent that may or may not make you feel your age, or just feel mature I guess it comes down to basics. 1. does it remeind you of a high schooler bathing in cologne for his first date? 2. does it make you smell like a drunk sitting in a corner sitting in his own urine? 3. Do YOU like it for how it smells?
no its not a crack at the vege, but you should stop reading your own personal biases into what people write on forums.
It was just an attempt at humor. There's always been some good natured bashing/defense of the the Veg on the forum.
Someone please define, "old man smelling". Second question. How old is an "old man". Is it a state of mind or a numerical thing?
but what particular brut scent do you refer to? the big fancy one,, or to every single modern incarnation of it?
