I'm still not sure if the slant concept makes any real difference. Having said that the 37 and 39C razors shave very well. But so do many other razors. If you like it that's all that really matters anyway.
I have a Merkur 37C Slant. It doesn't bite, but still I don't use it very often. I've tried several GEM, Everready, etc. SEs and the only one that I can get a halfway close shave with is the old beauty that has the 1901, etc. awards listed on it. That razor was made for a wedge, but takes a moder SE beautifully. Although the shave is only halfway close, the razor sings and the shave is more fun than any other in my arsenal.
