Had it done back in '93. Went in at 8 a.m. and was home by noon. Operation was done on Friday and I was back to work on Monday. No lifting for about two weeks. It was more of an inconvenience than anything.
Well wouldn't you know it. With all this talk about hernias - yesterday I saw my doctor and he confirmed I have an left indirect inguinal hernia. I had the right side done back in '93. Always knew the other side would give way eventually. I see the surgeon next Wednesday to have the surgery scheduled. Oh well - it gives me an excuse to stop chopping and carrying firewood.
Thanks - it should. I would think the procedure has improved over the last surgery in '93. Its an out patient procedure - go in early morning and back home by early afternoon.
Well, three weeks later and thank God! It went very well although I had some difficult days for the first week but now I'd say I'm fine!
I can think of better ways to get out of chopping and carrying firewood , but seriously it is a good excuse for kicking back and hanging out at the Den for a few days. I will pray for speedy recovery so you can get back to that firewood.
Had my inguinal hernia surgery this morning. They did a laparoscopic procedure - three very small incisions. Went in at 7 a.m. and home by 1 p.m. I feel great. No pain but some stiffness. They told me I can drive after 48 hours if I feel comfortable. I had the other side done back in the 90's. That was an open procedure and put my down for several days. The other nice thing about today's surgery - no bandages. They glued the three small incision and should leave virtually no scars. Guys - if you need to have this done - do it.
When my husband had his gall bladder out, they used the laparoscopic technique as well. I can barely see the little scars. They healed well and quickly. I wish you the same.
