Thank you, I need to get back to more brush restores. I have one to do for my daughter in-law for Christmas (probably tomorrow (I mean today)).
After 880 miles; my wife and I moved to Grand Island, NY, and as many of you may know, things get misplaced. I needed to get back into brush restorations for my daughter in-law. She's really gotten in to DE shaving and her favorite color is blue, so I picked up this Fuller brush to restore. She's rather impatient so I went with a nice synthetic Fan knot from Evershave. I was going to go in to much detail of the process, but as usual I got ahead of myself. That said I did snap a pick after knot removal. I accidentally misremembered the size of the opening and ordered a 25mm where I should have gotten 24mm. So out of time; I did what I could and bored it out to take the 25mm. I followed it up with a sanding and polish. I weighted it ever so slightly and installed the new knot. I think it turned out nicely and should make a pretty young lady a merry Christmas gift. And as always ... more to come.
Thank you, but as I tell people ... "it's a restoration, not a fabrication; life has touched it and it may have scars, but it's often better than new."
Working on my latest victim ... It's a Stag B 754; it is a Rexall Drug Company brand of shaving brush. Rexalls also produced Klenzo and Rex. This all said you can definitely see the similarities to Made Rite and Rubberset. Though the bristles look pretty good; they're extremely brittle and I'm opting to go with a nice 20mm Maggard's synthetic tuxedo. And as always ... more to come.
AMAZING work, your DIL will love that gift .. i just seen this thread and was looking back and some others you did, they all look marvelous
Wow it took me long enough to finally finish it ... not difficult just slacking. As I said before it's Stag B754 that had its original knot removed, polished weighted and a Maggard's 20mm Tuxedo synthetic installed. And as always ... more to come. Hopefully sooner than later.
