    Dove Men Face Wash
    VDH Luxury
    Bunny B-400 Cashmere
Gem 1911 Lather Catcher (first shave)
    CVS SE
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Barbasol AS

This is the first shave for me with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher.

The VDH Luxury Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bunny B-400 Cashmere synthetic brush. I did two passes the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher razor and CVS SE blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The razor is very light and easy to get the correct angle. I did an entire pass before rinsing the blade. I did the second pass and rinsed the blade at the end. I could not have imagined a nicer shave.

Great razor. Glad you liked the shave.

You are 1 step away from the finest SE shave now. You need to try a wedge blade next.

Perhaps a bit weird looking but, in my opinion, one of the best shaving razors around. SE razors rock and the lather catchers are toward the top of the class.

Very neat Jim. Are the CVS SE blades and DE blades both made in Israel?

Thanks for that link. Nice to see the old razors at work. I have a Star or Kampfe and also a CV Hjelstrand wedge razors that I have never tried. I should load them up with an SE blade and see how they do.

I also liked the tip about doing a cleanup pass using witch hazel. Never thought of that.
And, of course, I also bookmarked that forum to explore...

    wchnu Duck Season!

Glad you enjoyed. There is also a video of a ER lather catcher at work. I always use witch hazel for my clean up pass. It keeps the skin slick and I think helps my skin feel better.

I recommend you fire off a shave with your wedge razors it might just be awesome!

I was wondering, did you ever take one of the original SE blades out for a spin? I am thinking of trying one.

You can also experiment with adding some Fergiebilly shims to it to see how the changed angle affects the shave with a modern blade. :happy088:

I tried that with my EverReady 1914 and 1924 and was really surprised at the difference it made.

I did not, I see no reason you cannot hone them and get a shave though. They are thick enough I would think. I would love to hear about the outcome.

Never saw any reason for that. The shave is incredible as it is. YMMV

Again the shaves with those razors are almost heavenly. Never saw the need. YMMV
