Well, it was time for his first shave....he went to grab my fathers electric razor and I exclaimed "whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa slow down there!!" "you shall be taught with a razor that will make you take your time, and enjoy the moment" So, I taught him the way of the Valet Autostrop armed with a Feather blade, Monday menthol madness with Bigelow, and the wonders of a badger brush. He only nicked himself once, from a zit gettin wacked off. He loved it!
Close save there, could have ended up like me. My father didn't teach me anything about shaving other than the now haunting words,"Don't be bothered shaving, use an electric". Twenty nine years it took - TWENTY NINE YEARS!!! to get a proper shave!
My dad never even showed me how to shave. I think I just took one of his 2 blade disposables and went to town on my beard when I was 14. Took 15 years to get a proper shave.
My dad changed to cartridges at the time I started shaving. I used an electric for a few years before turning to cartridges. I never liked them but I knew it needed perfecting.....I just didn't realise at the time that it included changing razors completely. Well I'm here to stay now and I suppose that the main thing.
I butchered my face and neck with an injector when I was 18 Then had a full beard for two decades shortly thereafter. I "upgraded to a goatee, and cartridge shaver. I am now patiently??? Awaiting a Lord 6, and just won a 60's superseded. 41 years!
Look what I just won him. I'm gonna restore it properly for him http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=311174262588&alt=web
Excellent haul for your brother! I love the Autostrop! I can't see what type it is, but you can find Feather blades for it on Connaughtshaving.com => *click* <= If you're lucky it is an early type of the Autostrop which can take modified SE blades.
