Still in, with the caveat that I have replaced my daily aftershave as needed. That being said, I have also used up many soaps and creams, and a couple of other aftershaves that were not daily drivers. I’m really going to need to restock creams in January. Razors and brushes haven’t been a temptation at all - I have so many already, but generally only use 1 brush and 1 razor 99% of the time!
Nice work! I did NB16, and it was a great decision. I've come to appreciate the subtleties of the gear and avoided confounding my technique via less new gear to try.
I know other NB’s allow a grace period when a long term has just been finished. Especially considering you are talking about restocking, that seems fair.
I believe we said consumables are ok, blades soap etc, providing just replacing not stockpiling multiple years worth. Blades for example, I buy 100 Astra SP at a time they last a year. But I would not buy 5 packs or several different blades, to me that would make me out. Kinda self policing thing. Maybe I’m wrong, hope not I had to restock blades earlier in year and will need more next spring again. But I haven’t bought razors, brushes etc. and as far as soap goes I have 6 different ones. The 2 MdC jars will last many more years. MWF and Loccitane Cade puck last a good while and my tabac doesn’t see much action nor does my Williams. Edit to add, my AD is long gone for shaving, pipes and baccy however, well that’s where my disposable income goes now. Stocking baccy just in case the “deeming rule” stands.
Except for falling off the wagon in June, I have successfully abstained for most of 2017. I can see 2018 being a very frugal year with the exception of replenishing my Thayer's Witch Hazel. There was a time that I had to satisfy my urge for every new product. Those feelings, thank goodness, have subsided.
I didn’t just fall off the wagon in March, I then proceeded to crush the wagon with a tank and dynamite the remains. I am actually considering doing NB'18 on the theory that there's nothing left for me to buy...
