Currently the only safety razor I own is one that you get in a Seen on TV deal. It works but I want to branch out and currently am interested in an open comb or a slant head razor. Any suggestions? I'm leaning slightly more towards a slant head razor but any help would be appreciated. Price wise, hopefully nothing about the 50-60 range. Thanks in advance!
I know nothing about slants. I will say that I used a Maggard V2 open comb head for a long time and really liked it. They are inexpensive and you can pair the head with various handles they offer. Check them all out on Maggard's website. I'm sure you'll get tons of advice from your question. I'll just say that you don't have to spend a lot on a razor to get something that works really, really well.
You can get an Ikon X3 Slant head for $35 from Maggards and then pair it with one of their handles to come in that price range. You may also look at a vintage Gillette New SC or LC.
Many of the vintage razors (Gillette, Gem, Schick) can be found on Ebay for cheap. All provide great shaves.....
Both Search for a long comb in antique stores in your area. Deals can be had, I've found some as low as 5bucks. Slant- my razorock german 37 was like 20 bucks new(i bought it like new, same money, on bst here). Practically identical to my merkur 39c. Shaves just the same.
I have a long handle merkur open comb. Maybe a 38c. Not sure it was a pif from a friend. I prefer a OLD or my single ring. If you would like it pop me a pm with an address and it's yours. Shaves great in perfect condition.
