So I got the razor in the mail today. It looks great! So I want t get myself a decent Strop. I have a very cheap one currently. I will use it a few times while getting used to this razor. Can someone recommend a good strop to me? Seems I saw someone on the forum that makes them? Also, if anyone has some good tips for keeping this razor in this condition I would appreciate it. Like, how often should I get it honed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think @Drygulch is the guy you’re thinking of for strops The other place I’ve heard of for learning is whippeddog.com (just read that you had a cheap one, so you can ignore the second part) haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That razor is beautiful and we're glad its so special to you. Thanks for sharing both the pics and the experience. Wed be interested in how you follow up.
Well Thanks for the reminder about Drygulch @Pilotcld! I ended up purchasing a Roo Leather Strop from him. Got in today. It looks great! Look forward to trying it out. So I have 3 shaves in with this razor and they went better thanI could have hoped for. I enjoy the size and weight of this razor much more than the small Rattler I had been learning on! Will probably break it out again this weekend. I ended up purchasing a Dubl Duck Satin Edge yesterday from EBay and had it sent directly to Glen to work his magic on for me. That’s awesome!! I’m glad I could be of help! He taught me about getting Neatsfoot oil for restoring my great-grandpa’s strip that I inherited! It worked out wonderfully!! Also, can’t go wrong with DublDuck in my experience (which is very limited experience). I also inherited his DublDuck Pearl Duck I love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
