I don't begrudge anyone who has recently ordered and received a new razor. I'm just very annoyed with the fact that as an original backer who ordered and paid for 2 razors 15 months ago, I get pushed down the list.
As I only recently returned to wet shaving I was not in on this kickstarter. But I have been in on 6 or 7 others and I will tell you that several have worked really well and others...meh. The refreshing thing about Rockwell is they are making efforts to replace all razors that did not meet the supporters expectations, wow. I had 3 of the other KS deals that resulted in crappy products that were virtually unusable, and nothing like promoted in the beginning, guess what? The supporters got nothing but "sorry" and the folks just disappeared into the woodwork. I don't know Gareth personally, but I think his group did a stand up job of doing the right thing. If they had not continued to take orders and ship them there would have been no money to retool and purchase supplies to produce the replacement razors for the original supporters. You may wonder why I still participate in Kick Starters? Because I believe in small companies here in the US with great ideas. Looking forward to my Rockwell when it arrives!
I understood the need to raise capital and take new orders. I just feel the original backers should have been given priority for their razors over the new orders. Fortunately, the experience didn't put me off Kickstarter. Otherwise I wouldn't have backed the excellent Blackland Blackbird and the Single Edge.
My Rockwell razor arrived yesterday. During my commute yesterday I listened to the podcast of the interview with the two young founders about what they have gone through to get to this point. Made my unboxing especially interesting! I had my first shave this morning. I decided to go mild, with the R2 plate. I had a very comfortable, gentle, mild shave. My face feels great! The heft and balance of the razor are excellent. It was easy to find the sweet spot in the angle. I am pleased!
First shave-R3 with a Feather and it was awesome! Used my usual prep, brush and cream and it went well. Like the weight and how smooth the shave went. No irritation or nicks. My 1st BBS w/o irritation !! Wonder what R4 would be like
Same for me last night, was my second time using the feather blade but this time with the Rockwell 6s on plate #3, no cuts and no skin burn
Hi, I received the dispatched email earlier today. I expect it will take about 10 days for them to get here.
Good news. I really enjoy it, getting BBS shaves with no irritation with the R3 plate. Haven't used my other DEs since...hope you have the same experience.
