Hello Just wanted to introduce myself I have been wet shaving for about 3 months now using DE razors just placed an order to upgrade from my lord L18226 to a Merkur 25c. I started with a dollar store DE find that was a dollar and havent looked back yet. Hoping I can pass the art of wet shaving on to my kids when they are old enough. That is many years away so i have time to hone my skills so I can do a decent job of passing it on to them. Currently I am in the proccess of turning my father towards the DE light aswell. I going to be giving him my lord for his birthday hoping he will use it. anyways Im rambling, I look forward to chatting with everyone and learning as much as I can.
Welcome I think it's a decent addition to your collection. I've wanted to try an Open Comb myself but haven't found one yet that I've considered in good enough condition for me. If the worst happens and you end up hating it you could always sell it or see if your father would like it as well.
That exactly what i was thinking Justin , I was torn between the 25c and the 12c but incase the open comb isnt for me I decided to go with the 25c partly because it was 22 dollars cheaper then the 12c but also it is a light weight razor witch my other razors also are and I have been using them with great success to this point. Also based on reviews I have read from ppl with sensitive skin and heavy beards witch I havethe 25c does a better job being more manouverable. I wonder if any other 25c useres would agree i made the right choice? I see your a felllow Canuck who is in active duity so Justin please stay safe and dont forget about the brothers a back home who you are fighting for and are hopping you come home soon.
Greetings Awake2shave and WELCOME!.. I never shaved with a Merker but I once saw 25c in a store and remember thinking it had a decent feel to it.. nice long handle with a good weight and not overly heavy. I've got a few Gillette open combs which are pretty efficient shavers. What I've heard is that the 25c is a bit milder than the Gillette open's. I did see a thread on a forum somewhere where the guy had solved his heavy beard sensitive skin paradox with a Long comb new type I think it was. The razor in your avatar should be a good one for you.. but the 25c does have a longer handle with good grip. Anyways I hope that helps..and once again Welcome.. Joe ...
to the Den. While I have not shaved with any modern open combs I am a big fan of vintage open combs, enjoy the shave result I get.
