Hello to All, Semi-new DE shaver from Texas. Originally purchased a 'starter' pack from Amazon in 2015, which I later found out is not recommended but oh well, you live & you learn. I used to use a Mach 3 and shaves were alright, but got tired of the ridiculous cost of cartridges. Shaving with a DE safety razor was tough at first, and I almost gave up, but watched videos, read, and kept at it. I purchased Merkur 23C, Proraso green tub, and Escali badger brush, and some Astra blades. Over time my shaves have become significantly better, but I still get irritation from time to time. I purchased an Omega brush (still breaking it in), 3 B&M soaps, and an Edwin Jagger DE89. I switch razor to razor, and different blades often. Tried a Feather for the first time last week, and it was not nice to me. Best blades so far have been Gillette Silver Blues and 7 'O Clocks as well. Used a Voskhod blade the other day, and that was great as well. I know there are awesome vintage Gillettes out there and hope to get an adjustable Slim or Fatboy. After delving into DE shaving I am hooked. Also, want to upgrade my Escali badger brush, and was recommended a Kent BK2 badger, and also have seen great reviews for Stirling's Finest badger brushes. If anyone has any other recommendations for brushes, soaps... etc. I am all ears. One last thing, my post shave go to is Lubriderm 3 in 1 post shave lotion, and wondering... am I missing out on an aftershave liquid or balm? Anyway, this is a great forum from what I see, and hope everyone out there has outstanding shaves.
