Hello everyone, just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the community. My name is Jay and I'm a 35 year old father of three (and three pets) who works in digital marketing and I live in the Chicagoland area. I'm brand spanking new to Wet Shaving and was introduced to it on a cigar forum (my primary passion - more below). I think the thing that draws me to this way of shaving is the 'ritual' aspect of it. Life is short and we have to enjoy it so I'm always looking for ways to slow the pace and drink in the moments. I currently don't have any shave equipment though, except for the Gourmet Shaving book, but I'm looking to make some purchases soon! As previously stated my biggest passion is cigars. I'm the, for lack of a better term, Technology Director for Cigars For Warriors and one of the Illinois Ambassadors for Cigar Rights of America. I also just got back from an 8 day vacation in Nicaragua where I toured the farms and factories and learned to bunch and roll cigars. When it comes to beverages I'm a bourbon hound and love a good cup of java - think french press, siphon pots and all the other geeky methods of extraction. On the sports side I'm a golf fanatic, I would play it every day if I could, but sadly I'm not actually any good. The sport I excel at though is bowling. Anyways that's enough about me for now. I look forward to my stay here!
Welcome Jay. I think you will find many different "rituals" here. I'm with you that shaving is more enjoyable when you focus rather than being a task that we have to endure.
Good evening Jay, from over the pond in the UK. Plenty of guys on here to show you the way to a better way to relax. Oh! And this relaxation will relieve you of your dollars mate.. Enjoy..
to TSD "dscl"......I hope you enjoy your stay..... I'm glad your adding "traditional" shaving to your ritual list...I think your going to come to enjoy it..A smooth, irritation free shave, round of golf, fine cigar and a shot(or two) of good bourbon sound like a "GREAT" day...
