Newbie with a couple of questions

    I have the R89 and love it.
    As previously noted, you will have to play around with different blades to see which is best.
    You really need to dial in your lathering as I worked out.
    I like GSB, Polsilver and Personna Israeli Reds in my R89. The feathers work well too, but take your time if you go this way.
    IMHO, it's about the prep. The lather makes the difference. I aim for slickness rather than lots of lather.

    I think a lot of the idea of trying many blades is to get the new guy to keep at it. It takes 30-60 shaves to learn shaving technique and lathering. A few bad shaves is all that is needed to turn many guys off. But that next blade might be enough incentive to keep them going.

    After a year just about any blade in a nice mild razor gives me an acceptable shave. You might get a dull or damaged blade that gives you a bad shave but that's a rarity.
