October 31, 2015 SOTD - World Series - Game 4 Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: Barrister & Mann Diamond Shave Soap Brush: Omega Pro 48 Boar Razor: Gillette Goodwill Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: Old Spice 1967 My third and final shave with this setup brought the same great results as the first two - and brought my OC October to a close. Very good to great shaves with Gillette New LC, Schick Type C1, Standard Safety Razor and Gillette Goodwill. If I could only keep one it would be the New LC - my new favorite razor since starting this journey in May. World Series Game 4 With the Mets win last night we’re assured of baseball through the weekend…and hopefully beyond! Weird coincidence of the Series: The pattern of results between the first three games of this Series and the last World Series won by the Mets in 1986: ----------------1986---------------2015 Game 1-----Lost by 1 run-----Lost by 1 run Game 2-----Lost by 6 runs---Lost by 6 runs Game 3-----Won by 6 runs---Won by 6 runs Game 4-----Won by 4 runs------Tonight ? RT. You are the consummate fan. Because of your enthusiasm you may even have me pulling for the Mets, even though I don't have a dog in the hunt.
I did in fact find it a walgreens. I was looking in the AS section, but it was in the cologne section. I got the gift set, and for the first time in a very long time, I actually wore some edt today. Canoe is a great scent.
Finished celebrating OCtober with my first shave with my new 1937 Sheraton. This rhodium plated beauty was a joy to use and my first shave was a BBS.
OCtober Wrap-up Gillette New LC Feather blade (3) Semogue 830 Trumper's Coconut Two passes Thayer's Lavender witch hazel and unrefined shea butter I completed my OCtober focus today. It primarily consisted of getting to know my Gillette New LC. It has become my favorite razor, providing consistently great two-pass shaves. I attribute an occasional nick or weeper to operator error. The Gun-Kote makes it super easy to clean. I didn't notice any additional glide as a result of the coating on the top cap. I used two different brushes (Kent BK4 and Semogue 830) and three soaps/creams (Arko, TSD lanolin unscented, and Trumper's Coconut). Any combination of brush and either soap or cream yielded a good lather. I noticed a significant improvement in my lather using really soft water while on a trip to Florida during the month. I can't really pick a favorite combo here. Each brush, soap, or cream has different attributes, and I plan to keep them all in my rotation. I used a variety of aftershaves, including Trumper's Coral Skin Food, Alt Innsbruck, Captain's Choice Bay Rum, Fine L’Orange Noir, and Fine Platinum. This adds some variety to the daily routine without losing the benefits of a monthly focus. Have a great weekend!
Thank you all for participating in OCtober. I had a great time going through all the posts, enjoyed eyeballing some nice shavers and brushes, learned a little more about my own equipment. But my favorite and most memorable experiences were getting to know all of you a little more and enjoyed your company. Thanks for the memories. Don
It was definitely fun using my OC and reading all of the posts from everyone. I'll be sure to add another OC or two to my den by next year.
