I agree the Rum Runner is not a bay rum scent. I get more of a hot buttered rum cocktail scent. Honestly by the time I rinse my face and clean up the sink, the scent of the soap has completely dissipated. Given the scent of the soap is gone, it worked well with the Bay Rum.
Today I had a late shave to get ready for a party. I used a Maggard OC with the M9 handle. This must be the first generation Maggard OC because it is incredibly mild. The handle is fairly long and heavy, but it feels well balanced in my hand. Only second use of MWF and I really like the slipperyness. Nice DFS, but it took a lot of work to get that far. 3 passes and multiple touch-ups. HERM
Thank you gentlemen. I really like the styling of that handle. It's stainless and heavy. Tomorrow I'm going to try out with a 1906 Old Type head that's missing a handle. This head is much too mild. HERM
Razor: Timeless Stainless Steel Open Comb w/Timeless Knurled Handle Blade: Gillette Platinum (2) Brush: Shavemac Zebra, Honeycomb 2 Band Soap: Route 66 Rum Runner Aftershave: Fine American Blend Definitely a 3 pass BBS shave this evening. One weeper around the chin, but that was user error. Because the blade in the Timeless OC is beveled when tightened down you don't have the same angle of attack as you do with other DE razors. I believe @clint64 mentioned this in a previous post. Sometimes you just forget. A excellent shave with these tools. Route 66 soaps never provide a poor lather. The Rum Runner always provides a slick lather, protective cushion and glide and a soothing post shave conditioning. Can't say enough about Fine American, it is an excellent aftershave IMHO. I'll change handles tomorrow and use Timeless TRH2 Pineapple design handle.
The Timeless does have a steeper angle than any other razor I own. Another fantastic photo Amigo. I absolutely love the Zebra Brush.
Surprisingly no. When I first felt it dry, I was worried about that, but it wasn't a problem at all. HERM
October 23, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 OC with Triad SS Feather (3) Doug Korn DK7 with Druida Manchurian Fine Platinum Shave Stick Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Aftershave The Fine Platinum soap scent is a perfect match to the aftershave but not quite as strong or long lasting. The scent of the soap smells great of the puck and lasts through the shave but dissipates quickly afterwards. I find the Fine soap to be easy to lather and pretty slick. A three pass shave with minimal clean ups ended in a near BBS. I ended the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum aftershave. I am off this morning to visit my mom. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Razor- 1906 Old Type head / Maggard handle It never ceases to amaze me how similar-looking razors can perform do differently. Yesterday I used a Maggard OC (v1) with this handle. Today is the 1906 OT head that I picked up at a flea market (with its split handle) for 50¢. The Maggard was intensely mild with little or no feedback whatsoever and the angle of attack didn't seem to matter, it was always mild. The OT had amazingly loud feedback and had its usual very shallow angle requirement. The OT is definitely not mild, but it has controllable aggressiveness. I was worried about the result, but the lack of AS feedback let me know that I had done it right. My preference? The Old Type HERM
