I finally found a razor that could pull me away from the Dark Side. This is a beauty that was fun to shave with. I’ll post a review later on the Eye-Gote thread. Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap B-400 Brush by Tom Eye-Gore Prototype SE Razor by Tom (mild setting) Gem Stainless Blade (1) Lucky Tiger Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber After Shave Have fun!
17 OCtober 2017 Shave Pre: Hot water, cream from the bowl and a hot towel Razor: Gillette NEW Short Comb circa 1932-1940 Blade: Gillette Silver Blue Brush: Omega 6212 Silvertip Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Coconut Luxury Shaving Cream Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum Since my furry alarm clock(aka Bryant the Yorkiepoo) again decided 0500 would be a good time for me to get up, I had another great 3 pass shave. The TOBS Coconut is great smelling, slick and leaves a nice soft face feel. The NEW/GSB duo delivered another BBS shave. Splashed on some VIBR and all was right in my world. No worries mon!
Thank you Jim. Thank you. The #8 has a smaller diameter and the weight is really nice. The handle is drilled hollow and filled with epoxy to help reduce the weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gillette New Deluxe Gillette Silver Blue Semogue BC Mistura Stirling Gentleman Soap Tried something new this morning. From another thread @battle.munky mentioned that he did a 1 pass against the grain shave. I figured I would give it a shot. I did one S to N pass and a little touch up. Not far off my normal 2 pass shave. I would need some time to dial it in, but it could be workable.
OCtober 17th Gillette NEW LC w Feather (3) TGN Boar TSE Beach Bum Chatillon Lux Gratiot League Square AS This is my 2nd use of this soap. Changed up the brush type with it and bowl-lathered it this time. I got a really quality lather after about a 20 second vigourous load. Did my usual 3 passes with minimal touch up and am very smooth. I'm not worried about the AS being a great match scent-wise, it is just a great product. A nice start to the day. I'll be travelling for work for a few days. Just a vehicle trip, so no worries with blades, etc. I will go 'off focus' for the trip as I have packed a prewar Tech. Have a great day all!
If you find the scent acceptable, consider Canoe. Very similar blend of Barbershop Classic. I was trying to recall what was the November theme. Very few of us would participate in a no-shave month. Decadent DECember is hard to forget.
Great photo, Doug! Beautiful new razor, Keith! Congrats! Glad to see the feather is still going strong, Ken! Fabulous photo, Clint! Loveley Sheration, Jim! Nice setup, Perry! Cool photo, Brian! Tom's creations always stand out! New+GSB = nirvana! Great photo, Jason!
Tuesday October 17 a.m. - something different for my birthday Supply Provision Single Edge injector on two-dot plate / Personna (<5) Portland General Store's Alpine Shave Jelly Portland General Store's Willow Toner You don't hear much about Portland General Store's products. They make vegan organic stuff that seems pretty good. For today, I hauled out my two products by them. The Alpine shave jelly is a non-lathering gel that smells of pine and mint and also has aloe in it. I find it does a good job of providing a smooth, protected shave and has a good postshave feeling. Since I have a small "airplane size" jar, it would be a good travel product as there is no need for a brush. The only downside to it is that the residue is a bit stubborn about rinsing out of the razor. I did one pass with one of my favourite razors - diagonal on the face and ATG on the neck. The result was a BBS face and at least a DFS neck - just a touch of sandpaper feel under my chin. I could tell the shave was error-free so I skipped the alum. I finished off with a full face and neck rinse with the PGS Willow Toner. It uses black willow bark extract in apple cider vinegar for an astringent but non-drying cleansing. It left my skin feeling clean and tightened up but also well hydrated. Overall a good shave experience today using some products that I really should use more often than I do. Hope everybody has a great Tuesday!
