Under the 1950s and Earlier tab, do you see something conspicuous by its absence? http://news.gillette.com/about/timeline
Well in 1957 they introduced a 195 razor with five (prototype) and nine (production) settings and not three like they stated. Someone was looking quickly at a set of instructions that showed the words heavy, medium and light and assumed that was fully correct. In 1956-7 they missed the multiple Super Speeds.
All true, but I am surprised there is zero mention of the original late '30s TTO design. The suspicious part of me has to wonder if it was deliberate.
They were first with the DE TTO, though, and that's the picture which still comes to mind (for many older folks anyway) when they hear the word Gillette. I wouldn't be one bit surprised that they don't want people to know DEs still exist. Why stoke the competition?
I'll be very interested to see what (if any) reply you get, and even more shocked if they add that to the timeline.
They emailed back.. "Thanks for contacting Gillette. We appreciate your feedback about our website. Please be assured that I'm sharing your comments with our Webmaster and the rest of our team." "Thanks again for taking the time to write." Karissa Gillette Team
Not a surprise. We have people on this forum that know a great deal more about Gillette history than most of the people who work for the company, undoubtedly
