Okay...who actually uses an alum block post shave?

    Only when I don't cut myself on a straight edge. Sometimes would have to be my answer. A DE gets certain areas of the neck easier than the SE because of the size of the blade and rarely gives me razor burn. Being new to SE shaving has a lot to do with it.

    I use alum after a straight shave. Mostly because I have it out to aid in skin stretching during the shave.

    In the exception to every rule category, I'm Irish and use alum after every shave.

    Agree. I fill the sink with hot water for the shave. When the water turns red I know my technique or something isn't quite right.

    Well since I've gotten deeper and deeper into this wet shaving hobby, it only seems natural to have another thing. So I bought one at the Art of Shaving store. I use it every so often and it tightens up the skin and heels weepers before I put on a nice AS.
