I have tried several. 1. Shulton Old Spice, pre 1993. In 1993 P&G took over and changed the formula. I have some 1993 P&G Shulton Old Spice(transition), and you can tell there was a change. 2.Original Old Spice. P&G, 1993 to present. It is Just plain lacking the deep complex scent the Shulton has. 3. India Old Spice(Rubicon). Used the original Shulton formula, until a few years ago. P&G MADE the formula change. To what the U.S. smells like, yuk. So, basically, if you want the good Old Spice smell, buy vintage Shulton, that doesn't have P&G anywhere on it. I have several full Shulton bottles ranging from the mid 1950's to the Early 1990's and the formula is the dame, yuuuummmmmyyyyy.
Since I used the so-called Old Spice Original Aftershave and cologne last week I lost quite a bit of my taste for it. I still have some Shulton Old Spice cologne but I don't use it so often because I want it to last as long as possible.
Aaahh, O/S... When Men were Men. And the women loved them for it. I recommend to all, stay with the original versions if you can. No reproductions of today come close to them. Maybe the O/S from India, made by Rubicon is similar, slightly. I grew up on this stuff from my Grandad to my Oldman and all my older brothers. A classic worth it's weight in Gold....
My Dad used to use the Shulton version when it was available and he told me today that the reformulation sold now is a big step down. I agree with him on that. This was the only aftershave he enjoyed.
sad isn't it? I think that's the case with Rise, too. The cream still performs as well as did the original one, but the fragrance is gone.
i bought some new old spice classic and paired it with soap commander endurance soap.not the original but smells good.better than none.will shop for shulton stuff in canada at some point.
I've just recently decided I like Old Spice AS. I hear people say that the version available today is different than the original. I don't remember the original. I wish I could compare the 2.
As I stated yesterday, the so-called Old Spice Classic doesn't even come close to the original Shulton version. I can tell the difference blindfolded.
Just took a look over there and a good amount of reviews saying not the original. Sent from my S8+ using Tapatalk
