Open Comb Week Oct. 3-9, 2011

Another Theme Week coming up quick!

This one is Open Comb week, and will run from Monday, October 3, through Sunday, the 9th.

hey I can join in on this one, as found my grandads old gillette. (when my aunt died last year i had to clear the house, I found the razor and kept it even though I didnt use DE's at that time. sooo glad I did)

 

Alright, I'll be breaking out the OCMM. Might not be able to shave with it each day of the week but I'll definitely be using it as much as I can!

And since you're shopping, I'd like a lather catcher & an EverReady Streamline!

 

Yeah, the OCMM is the only open comb razor I have. It's going to be an interesting experience learning to use than medieval looking hunk of metal.

 

Never used one yet??? It's my favorite. I just can't use it everyday as it's so efficient!

 

Well, I was having that chin area problem, and I've been blade testing so I've been sticking with a Lord "Premium" L6.
I've actually learned to get awesome shaves with it. I did try the superspeed I got a few times, but I didn't like how much the head stuck up...if that makes any sense..

PanChango sent me some coated blades to try, so that is what I'll be using during that week.

 

It will be one of my daily drivers, either an OCMM or a Gillette Old Type Bull Mastiff.

Those are the Gem Stainless PTFE coated blades (Ted Pella 121-3 I think) . The first shave is little rough for me, but then it is smooth sailing for the remainder of the blade life.

 

Ahhh... the MMOC. Love mine.

Ohhhhh, yeeeaaaaah. It'll get used!

 

My only OC is my Floral ABC unless the R41 gets here in time! So I'll be using the ABC exclusively, unless the R41 gets here in time!

Did I mention the R41 isn't here yet?

Nah dude, I'm good. Thank you though. I need to give that ABC some time anyway so this is a great opportunity to exercise it.

Just frustrated I haven't gotten my R41 yet......I emailed Connaught to see what was typical. It has got to be soon.

 

AWE open combs. I can't wait. I need to start polishing them up. I really want an R41, I just have too many razors as it is...I might have to sell some off to justify a purchase. Hmmmmm.

 

That's exactly what I did, but I did a little too well so now I need to find a Darwin

 

I have staying away from my OC razors for a while in anticipation of this week. So many options, will I stick with one for the whole week or will I swap each day? hmmmm....

I am thinking this will be my line up, but not my order of use:

R41 (2011 edition)

1912 Gillette single ring
Tforc coated NEW
Tforc coated unknown maker OC
Goodfella
....wait... I want to use more razors, why are there only 7 days in that week???

 

My R41 got here today, so now I'm good to go for OC week :biggrin:

 

Justin, I'm just a bit envious when I see that Gem Deluxe listed there. Please, please, please post a photo SOTD when it comes time!
