After two weeks of waiting...and accumulating a few notepads...my Parker 25 pens (fountain pen and roller ball pen) finally arrived ! Absolutely love the look and feel of them - sure, part of that could just come from my Kenneth Grange obsession but I do think these are spectacular looking. Brushed stainless steel, a clip w/out the traditional Parker-arrow and an almost bullet-like tapering of the pen - what's not to like!? I guess the final...and most important question gets answered tomorrow...how are they to write with? That's going to be especially important as I bought these with the intent using them for journaling and skething - both at home and away. Some photos - and yes, these are not fancy, expensive pens but I rather like them quite a bit! For about $40 for the pair I couldn't be happier. Mine are the more common blue ones;
I like a good fountain pen. I have one of the Cross modern ones. Not super sophisticated but convenient. How do you keep the ink off of the nib piece though? I see it on yours in the above pic and it also happens to mine. It is about the only detractor I see to using fountain pens.
I just cleaned a black Parker 25 fountain pen, it was my father's and I remember him writing with it. I have a new daily driver!
With some pens, Nib Creep is just part of the deal. ---> *click* Nice pen @Darkbulb Parkers have always had a spot in my heart.
hmmm.... link didn't take you exactly where I thought it would. In case you didn't see what I wanted, click on the link again. There's a red dot in Richard's banner at the top of the page. Click on that, then click on the N to get to Nib Creep.
Cool. I was working my way through the site a bit at a time. I figured you were just giving me a resource where I could learn and figured I'd get to nib creep at some point. Double tyvm!
And, yay, received a black Parker 25 in the mail This one was said to be new and never used and looking at it I can believe it. $26 but I think it was worth it. Great looking pen! Next to my brushed steel one: I'm afraid that its decades of being ink-free will soon be over as this is a pen I fully intend to use Finally a nib comparison. I think the blue (on the left) is a fine nib. Is it possible to tell from this photo what the black one (to the right) is?
I felt very meta drawing the pen I using. Oddly circular. Sketched in my hobonichi on today's date as I was waiting for my haircut.
Several months - and pens - later the Parker 25 is still one of the ones I reach for most often... Here with a now rather 'well aged' Popov leather case
