http://jayaruh.blogspot.com/2016/07/parker-51.html I ordered a replacement nib for my Parker 51 pen that I have had since the early 60s. The nib had broken, and I decided I would try my hand at restoring it. I found a video online that guided me in disassembling and cleaning the pen. I ordered the nib from a guy in Greece on July 1. It arrived yesterday by registered mail, but I was not home, so I had to go to the PO today and pick it up. It is now installed in the pen and ready for some ink. However, I don't have any ink. I am going to have to find a source that I can afford. I am looking forward to finding something I can use.
Nice pen, Jim... the 51s are a pain to clean (as in when changing ink colors), but they are absolute tanks so long as the nib hood doesn't crack (then ink will leak through the crack). You probably already know this, but when you get ink be sure that it is for fountain pens and not for calligraphy. Calligraphy ink (even if it says fountain pen safe) isn't safe for fountain pens due to solid pigments and/or binding agents like shellac. Either one will gunk up your pen irreparably.
