Found a bag on clearance at WM for $5, figured can't get hurt much even though it's medium roast and I like their darks. Boy oh boy, this is good stuff with lots of goodness. Next to Kava (which I like but need for the low acid sometimes) I could well make this a go-to coffee since I've had two cups today and no acid issues yet. Too bad it's $15 at Peet's website (but I guess that indicates freshly roasted every time). Couldn't drink it regularly at that price, will have to settle for bags off the shelf.
Doesn't surprise me. Since I started roasting my own, I found a lighter roast than the normal dark I used to drink is much more flavorful. I have come to prefer a medium blend. I learned from reading about roasting that two things get cooked out the darker you make the roast: 1 - nuances to the flavor profile. B - caffeine.
WM is 5 minutes away from our new residence so I went and snagged the last two bags. I think my ultra-dark phase is pretty much over. BB reminds me of McDonald's renowned cup, but much tastier.
