I'm fond of the Senile Old Man act. I pretend the caller is my great-grandaughter Suzie (regardless of their sex) and start telling endlessly meandering Grandpa Simpson type tales.
"The first victrolas were powered by a tiny monkey. That changed during WWI because the French used up the Allied supply of monkeys to polish the inside of artillery pieces. Then, the Gillette Razor Company introduced the Wankel Rotary Engine at the 1929 World's Fair in Toledo and THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING..."
Seems the calls have stopped for now. Still getting texts, the latest was for a "$1000 WalMart gift card just click here". Also "click here to earn $900 a day. I keep blocking them but it's a different number each time.
I think they're always different numbers. Just got one from a "you have a computer virus" company...foreign accent. Try someone else, fella.
If I knew how to hack I would track them down and unleash some sort of data bomb and rock their little world.
I got a free app from ATT named Call Protect and it blocks known telemarketers etc. and you can block #'s that bother you with it is as well. It stops most of the calls I get
Oh. those are the apps? I thought at first you would say "Hiya!" if you knew it was a telemarketer or suspicious situation, lol.
I added the 'Hiya' app to my wife and my phones this week and it works like a charm! But there are some great ideas to try on this thread now.
Redfisher, I didn't read the whole thread because it is 8 miles long. If someone hasn't mentioned it already and you have an Android phone, try Avast Mobile Security Pro. It has a call blocker that will, among other things, allow you to block all calls from numbers not in your contacts (i.e. All unknown numbers). It blocks a ton of calls on my phone, and has the added benefit of protecting my phone from malware, and even has a lost phone locator. Well worth the cost IMHO.
