I look at replating like this... Some people want their vintage cars original and unrestored, with the patina of time and use. Others want them restored to original condition as when they rolled off the assembly line. Yet others want them with modern drivetrains and conveniences. What's the right way to go? It's up to the owner. Original, restored or custom... they're all good.
Thank you very much. Chris at RazorPlate and Cap'n Murphy get all the credit. I just put up the money. Herm
I have a Slim Adjustable that I had replated. By the time I did the replating, I knew that this was my favorite DE razor and I wanted to keep it for a long time. Replating gave me a "brand new" razor that they no longer make.
I like that Fatboy in Rhodium, and the Black Rhodium makes a good contrast. I also have been thinking about a two tone finish on my Fatboy. Sport Shaving?
I have re-plated one razor. A 1940 Milord Tech. The original finish was almost completely worn away, but the razor was in excellent condition. I sent it of to Razor Emporium and opted for the 24K gold. I couldn't be happier. The picture doesn't reflect the true color because of the lighting. It shines.
