So I have heard a lot of people talk about this brand and figured Id give them a try, any recommendation or specific to get from this line? I was also looking at there bar soaps, anyone use theses?
My only experience is the XXX soft soap & it is fantastic. Very easy to lather, very slick with good cushion. I always get great shaves when I use this soap. I bet Randy will be on in a bit as I think he has a good bit of experience with several different RR offerings.
I second the XXX as this is the only one I've used so far. It's awesome. I am dying to try the Boston Tea Party scent though, which I just have pick up sometime very soon.
I'm currently using their Classic variety. I love love love the almond scent and for a non-tallow soap/cream it is slicker than goose-$#*! I think Caprician Lemon or Boston Tea Party will be next on my list. Randy is our resident Razorock expert though, so you might ask him.
Hey, guys. Like Tom and Brian said you can't really go wrong with their soaps. The black containders (Fresco, XXX, Classic) are vegetable based and closely related to Fitness soaps. The taller White containers are the artisan line (Tea Party, Third Eye, Chianti Lavender, etc.) and they're all tallow-based with the excepttion of Muguet de France which is shea butter. These soaps are related to Acqua di Parma (AdP) soaps. Last month, RR introduced 2 new artisan soaps in their line called King Louis (Lavender) and 888 Eucalyptus. These 2 soaps are shea butter and lanolin based and comes in a shorter tub. These are my favorite so far, but I'd be happy with any of them truthfully. I also use their splash and AS wax. It's not a wax. It's a balm that's very unique and soothing to just shaven skin. Feels great. EDIT: I have tried their bath soap and it's OK, but not my favorite. My face just didn't agree with it very well, but my wife loves it. Go fish. Hope that helps. Please feel free to ask Joe or Mike, the owners of RR, any questions you might have at the Italian Barber. They are very helpful and responsive to customers.
I'm just imagining that image in my head. Give it time. Someone will invent that. I know. How about, "Bullgoose's Original Goose Sh!t Soap"?
Phil, whaddya think? New line of products? That'd be no more bizarre Kopi Luwak coffee (coffee beans that have been consumed and umm...redeposited by tigers)!
I don't think Phil posts here anymore, but if he starts that line of products, we'll know where he got it!!
I love these products. I have the XXX soap, shave gel, wax, and alum stick. I just received the 888 and King Louis soap, shave gel, wax, and after shave.
XXX all the way man!!! Love the stuff!! However I recently tried some figaro shave cream and it was the best iv ever used and they say its almost exactly the same as the razorock classic...which I have never tried before....so if there is any truth to that statement....classic might be my new favorite! But XXX has a slight citrus scent and I love citrus scents so itll probably always be one of my favorites!
XXX for sure , I have xxx and violet with the lavender on the way , Joe recently posted that xxx may not be made ( this was just a aheads up from Joe not a for sure its doomed just a it may happen )
RazoRock fans should have a read of this thread: http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/sh...rber-com-February-Update-Some-not-so-fun-news Looks like they may be going away as fast as they came...
Yep, read that last night. Joe says the artisan line should be safe, but the Classic, XXX and Fresco is in danger of going away. Makes sense....it's the shaving world. Curb your enthusiasm.
Thank you for the detailed comment, just wish I could try them all, lol, Im gonna be broke sooner or later and all because of shaving, who knew, anyways, you were mentioning how, for instance, XXX is vegetable based, while others were based differently, does this affect anything specific, does it make one better than the other? XXX was my first choice out of this line to buy and I wanna try the aloe body soap and maybe the sandlewood one as well, which brings me to another question, body soaps like these, are they more natural than what you find in the stores? Ive been using old spice gels for sometime now without any real problems but as it goes for using more natural shaving products I figured why not use more natrual body cleansing products as well.
Thanks for all the reply's guys, now I have to resist the urge just to buy all there stuff, lol. SO many choices and so little money, whats a guy to do. So which soaps smell the best from RR?
Ryan, I think many folks, including me, would tell you that the RR shaving soaps all perform very well. Any differences among them all would likely be a personal preference thing. I can't tell a substantial difference in performance from one to the other. The scents, however, will vary somewhat according to my likes. As for the bath soaps, I'm kinda in the middle of that one myself. I've tried MWF (expensive) and Speick and so far I really like the Speick body bar. The MWF is fine too, but at that price it's hard to justify it as an everyday soap for me. I'm also going to try the Pre de Provence 20% shea butter soap soon as I heard it's very good, but it too is expensive.
I find Yardley tallow-based bath bars at places like Big Lots, Marshalls, and the like for <$1 per bar. At Big Lots I got a 4-pack for $3!
You would think with all the problems in Italy at the moment they would be trying to keep their customers instead of price gouging and then loosing out to new manufactures. One reason I buy products made in places like Italy is the hope that my little bit might save someones job but if they act like that then I will buy most of my stuff from other country's in Europe or Bangladesh or India. Can anyone recommend shaving products made in country's with people that the xtra business could make a difference?
