I have been wet shaving since August and having been trying different razors and would like to get a modern this time. I have a few razors my favorites in order. 1. Gillette Sheraton 2. Gillette Slim on 4 3. Gillette Ball Tech Canadian W4 1951 / Micro Touch One Tie for 3rd place. I really like the Weber but am concerned with quality from I read they send out a lot of bad heads. I also like Merkur's 34 and 38c's. Any recommendations would be helpful.
I'm partially biased because it was my first modern razor - but I'd throw the Edwin Jagger DE89 into the hat. Fantastic quality/plating and if you like your Slim around a 4 then the EJDE89 should be pretty close to that level of aggressiveness.
DE89 is a very nice shave. Also, if you like the OC Sheraton check out a Gillette NEW, a very nice shave!
I'm not sure what your price range is, or if you want stainless steel, but maggards has some good deals. I will toss another vote in the hat for Matador or a shavecraft.
I would get a Feather stainless DS2. It will last forever. But I think the Gillette adjustables are the best razors you could ever want to shave with. If you are a collector get one of everything in an origional package.
Never considered a slant. How aggressive are they? I don't think I want anything more than medium aggressive range.
I have the iKon Shavecraft 102, it's mid aggressive, I use it everyday with no nicks, no irration. Since I've had it I haven't put it down.
+1. Ikon shavecraft 102 is a keeper. Which blade do you like to pair it with? I have had great results with with GSB, Polsilver, and Feathers.
I am a big fan of the Merkurs. I would recommend either the HD, or the long-handle. The slant is definitely a more aggressive shaver.
RR Stealth Slant is a mild but efficient shaver. They are hard to get, but for those interested apparently there is a lot going up today or tomorrow on the IB site as per Joe.
