Nothing starts the day quite like scoring a really nice razor on a "Buy It Now". :)

It's a little hard to tell, but I played around with the pictures a bit on my editing software, and I think that's a TV Rocket. I asked the seller for a better picture, so when and if he sends one, I will confirm.

even if it is not a TV, that case is pretty sweet. Nice score!

    Nice Rick!

I'll never understand why people list with buy it now's. An auction would have easily brought triple what they had listed it for. Odd.

Incredible. Great find! I wonder if that set is original for a TV rocket. I have seen several in the white rocket cases, but I have never seen one of these. Another note, the price tag in there looks like it says 31/6. Wasn't that a lot of money then? Wow, congratulations!

I don't know. Who can tell us what 31/6 means?

31 shillings, 6 pence in pre-decimal pounds. Before 1971, It was 20 shillings to the pound and 12 pence to the shilling.

    (edit)That would come to £1.56 decimalized (/edit)

You're welcome. Just as a reminder, anything under 20/- is less than a pound. Trick then is what was a pound worth in dollars in the 1950s and 60s?

Well, I found this, but it just adds to the confusion:

    £1.55 in 1958 is equivalent to £23.14 in 2009

In other words, £1.55 today can buy the same as £0.08 could in 1958

(Assuming a yearly inflation rate of 2% from 2006 onwards)

Nonetheless, £1.56 is only about $2.25 with today's exchange rates -- so 31/6 was not much at all.

A dollar was worth .356 pounds in '58, so it would be ~$4.39 in 1958 dollars.

Either way, that is a good snag and a great looking set.
