    hello all!

I know this isn't an RV forum but with the great crowd here I thought I'd give it a shot. My RV floor is rotten right by the door and the local dealership charges $139/hr just for labour, and I hear they're not really good either. Is there any advice on RV fixing or general thoughts on RV dealerships?

If there isn't any warranty involved, you would be much better off finding a carpenter/handyman who comes recommended.

I don't like using dealerships unless things are under warranty.
I had an A/C compressor and all the plumbing fixed today, by a private mechanic, and saved $400 over a dealership.
Just ask around your area, I'm sure any car body shop can do the work you are needing.

If you RV is built like I suspect, the plywood deck/floor is installed and attached to the frame before the exterior is applied. To remove the floor in an area may involve deep surgery. If you are happy with a patch job, cutting out the rotten material and installing a puzzle piece shaped repair panel is certainly possible. Can you view the damage from underneath? If there is room for a jigsaw or sawzall, followed by 1X4 or 1X6 set under to splice, held with sheetrock screws and exterior grade adhesive... the tools and materials might be less than the labor charged by the dealer.
What manufacturer & model is your RV?

You guys crack me up!

My RV is a 29' Greywolf 2009. I can't see anything from underneath since everything is shielded from the elements (apparently not well enough though) with some insulation and plastic sheet cover. I would be happy with a simple patch job. Just unsure if I can do it from underneath.

What is the floor covering in that area? Can you post pics of the area, I realize the damage may not be visible, but seeing the trim and covering can help give you better advice.

More info is needed. What is the flooring made of?

I looked it up. The exploded plans look like it has plywood. Sounds like a weekend home patch job.

I don't have it at home so can't get photos at this point.

I looked up recent Creekwood/Greywolf models, and some site had an exploded view of the construction.
