I think I can be safe in saying that most everyone that gets into safety razors (by that name) has heard of or seen the Rolls Razor shaving system, combining the strop, hone, chunk of razor, and a handle. There's also the Darwin Hollow Ground Safety Razor. Possibly the Auto-Strop. Are there any other 'systems' out there, where honing or some other kind of care was built into the original concept? I'm not sure the Schick Injector counts as a system. I'll try uploading some photos later as I can find them, unless someone else wants to help
Does this count? It strops like the autostrop but with a seperate handle http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/ever-ready-streamline-jewel.53253/
I realize it's a wedge blade. It's still a chunk of a straight razor If the Auto-Strop is a 'system', then I don't see any reason why the Ever-Ready Streamline Stropping Outfits wouldn't qualify. Okay -we're up to four.
I love the look of th Wilkinson Sword 7-day sets. Multiple blades, strop, seperate handle for honing. They look like you might be able to repair your truck with it.
That just looks like too much work. Just use a straight and be done with it. Sent from my phone using some app
It's less to carry than seven straights, plus the necessary equipment. (space wise) Remember things like that were marketed to people that had to travel, and they didn't have a lot of space on the trains, etc. Okay - we're up to five.
Oh wow. That Star Safety Razor System looks impressive - and mildly dangerous. I'll post photos of my Rolls and Ronson when they show up.
Just as an update. I haven't taken good photos of the Ronson yet. It's in fantastic shape, other than the blade, and I can see why it didn't work out well. The natural way to run the honing 'wheel' is actually -backwards- from what they want.
