Did not know it was a Williams Wednesday. So it was pure luck I used it today. Wooden handle shavette w/swinglock loaded with I think a three use Good Sense blade Warm face wash x3 Brass bowl hot water soak of brush hot water on top of a ring of Williams(the center of the puck has worn away) King of Shaves gel 2 passes and a touchup cool water rinse Vintage Old Spice a/s w/ Patchouli cologne and beard oil and glycerin added.Rubbed into skin, beard and hair.Later in the day after the scent has faded you can dampen your hands and run them through your hair and beard and reawaken the scent! After soaking the brush I shook out the water and dumped the hot water out of the brass bowl and put a bit of the KoS gel in the bowl, dumped the excess water off the Williams and loaded the brush.Hit the bowl with the brush and the KoS and got a stable dense low lather after a minute that was pretty slick and did not evap on me.Did the usual 2 pass with a touchup I almost had a nick but stopped the blade when I felt the bite start.
Sounds like a great shave! Hope to see you here next Wednesday.... it's Williams Wednesday every week!
Modern Williams (unmolested), Tian Li Super Blue, Stirling marble-handled badger, R41(2013), Nivea Men Sensitive PSB. The blade felt a bit rough on its fourth day, but the slickness of the Williams carried the day. DFS around the Adam's apple, BBS elswhere.
A good read. Comparing MCD to Williams. We know the answer already of course. https://sharpologist.com/2018/03/shave-test-rolls-royce-versus-toyota-yaris-shave-soaps.html
Williams Wednesday's Shave Happy Pi Day Proraso Pre Shave Williams Mug Shaving Soap Jayaruh #268 Supply Provision Personna Injector CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Aqua Velva Musk I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #268 synthetic brush. I had planned on using the #2 plate, but I read that this was a mild razor, so I changed it out for the #3. I did two passes with the Supply Provision Razor using a Personna Injector blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. It is a mild razor, but I got great results with the #3 plate. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I used Williams today with a new (basic) synthetic. Took some extra work, mostly because the synthetic didn't want to cooperate, but I still ended up with a good one pass shave. (with a tiny amount of buffing) More experiments to come, probably won't talk about them.
Day 38, shave 34 on this puck for a Williams Wednesday: 30 second load with my Stirling marble handle badger, Merkur OC head on a cartridge handle (my kind of a cartridge razor), ShaverBoy Super Stainless, Dickinson's WH, Nivea Men Sensitive ASB. Same great lather as usual, but the puck is starting to rotate in the mug, so it's not loading as efficiently. A three pass DFS.
