Time for a new Theme Week! This one is all about the soap. I know many of you (self included) use soaps most of the time anyway, but this week is for all those who mostly use creams. Many who use creams do so because creams can be easier to lather. I want you put the creams aside for a week and just give soaps a try. Practice for a week and see what you think. There are some good ones out there! If you are one who does find it easier to lather up with creams, I would avoid Williams soap and MWF as they can be finicky to use. They do have their fans, but just as many people hate 'em because they can be difficult to lather. Here's a thread on lathering TSD Soaps, although I use this method with all my soaps. And here's another thread that you may find helpful. Have fun, and let us know how it goes for ya!
I just got my TSD Shop order yesterday so I think I'm going to try out JoAnna's Limited Run Rosemary Mint soap this week.
I have like six soaps now and always find in a pinch that I reach for a cream. However mikes natural soaps are my favorite. I have yet to try the fat.
JoAnna's limited run rosemary mint with lanolin was really great. Love the smell and my skin feels great after the shave. I did have a bit of trouble getting my brush to load at first but a little more water on the puck and in the brush fixed that. I also had better luck skipping the lather bowl. Once I had the brush loaded I face-lathered with it and got great results. Great BBS on the face and DFS on the neck. As I said, I'm a soap guy - except on Mondays. For what ever reason, can't remember now, Monday became my "cream" day. Today it was C.O. Bigelow. Rest assured the rest of the week will be soap.
Well, this one will be easy since I'm a soap user. This week is Mike's Naturals Orange-cedarwood-peppercorn. yum.
Should be easy with the exception that my speick showed up today. I should be getting my pre de province today also. Maybe I could make it the week without touching my new goodies.

Was this the prize from the newbie drawing? Glad you got a great shave with it! How did you like the scent, lather & glide? Hmmmm? The soap addicts among us need to know
Good memory! Yes it was. To be honest with you, its tough for me to get a good lather in a bowl with this soap. I've tried multiple times. This morning I was hell bent on it. I lathered it in the container I put it in, and eventually I got a great lather and an even better shave. I guess I have to perfect my technique. The scent is awesome. It reminds me of summer. The glide was good. Possibly because of the glycerin. Oh yeah, I put about 6 drops of M-Bomb on top of the puck before I started whipping up my lather. Nice and cool!
Thanks for your thoughts! It sounds like your persistence paid off with a great shave. I read on the Ginger's Garden website that the owner's been making handmade soap since 1969 & I look forward to trying her stuff.
