Thank you. The original type still pop up for sale. Called a Rubberset 400. There are several companies that make reproduction handles in metal or plastic. Mine was crafted by one of our resident artists - Tom @twhite. I had an original type, but when Tom put one of his in my den, I traded off my vintage handle and felt no pain. Another of our members Jim @Jayaruh has made several of this profile from various types of wood.
Here is the threaded base and my three ferrules with knots from (L to R) a Whipped Dog High Mountain badger, an Omega Pro #10098 boar, and an APShaveCo Tuxedo synthetic.

 

I was thinking of getting a Tuxedo synthetic. I see the knots on sale and I bet one would look great in that type of handle! By the way do you know any Tuxedo vendors other than Etsy? They give no info on the Tuxedo knots other than the knot size. They do not give the height of the loft from what I see.

 

Both the badger and Tuxedo knots are +/- 54mm loft above the ferrule. I'm not sure what the total height was on the Tux, but the glue bump was around 7mm thick. If you prefer to set a knot deep it helps add to the density by holding the fibers tighter.
Ordering from APShaveCo in Canada does require a pass through U.S.Customs. No tracking available far as I know. I recall seeing a similar knot in Wolf Whiskers brushes, and I think someone is selling a flat top Tuxedo but I haven't bookmarked a source yet.

I absolutely froze my face to smithereens just now with the Glacial Spearmint soap. I started a brand-new container and the scent was so strong that it filled my bathroom while I was lathering up and shaving. Talking about lather, my face was buried in awesome lather after about 25 seconds of loading my Plissoft synthetic and that menthol sensation hit me right away. The matching balm smells every bit as nice as the soap and it's also loaded with menthol. Finally, a couple of splashes of the Rubby Dubby Doo gave me that wonderful extra icy smack which makes me feel great. Another picture-perfect BBS shave and from the beginning to the end I enjoyed it immensely!
