Dad looked so happy when we arrived at the facility and he hugged and kissed all of us, especially Mom and I. I shaved him BBS with the Ming Shi TTO loaded with a new Rapira. The Arko stick lathered up like a bomb with the Omega 49 brush and he needed three passes to get all the stubble off. He said the Tet-a-tet balm felt nice and cooling, and he also enjoyed the scent. I noticed that it's a standard procedure for the place to give the male residents a bottle of Aqua Velva Ice Blue, so I put a little on him after his shave just to give him a little extra freshness, and he enjoyed it!

That is so nice of you to do that for your father. What a great son!

I think this is the fourth shave I've had with this razor/blade combo and it's still going strong. I know some people think this is one of the sharpest, if not the sharpest blade to use and not a good one for novices. But, for me anyway, while not a novice, I think that once one has their technique down, no matter how long or short one has been wet shaving, this blade should be no problem to use. Also, the brush, if you've seen my "Resurrection of Jayaruh #156" thread, you will know why I'm calling it the J&J 156 Badger brush. Well, it's the only thing I can think of as of now anyway. Hope that's ok @Jayaruh. Ok, now on to the shave. A very close and comfortable shave in two passes with a couple of touch up strokes for a great BBS shave.

very effective! I have had the Alumnus since it first came out, the Bakelite is third of the price and basically the same exact razor and weight

Maggard sells similar knots and in different sizes. I only had one that I personally handled to install for a brush for @Linuxguile and seemed a bit denser than a Tuxedo. I'd say to check them out, also good prices on them.

Aluminum and Bakelite are basically the same, Douglas says there same weight as well. I definitely like the retro Bakelite and OX blood color better. Amazing 25 buck razor! also a vintage waulbush goes for huge money.
