It's really a pity that the French version of Gillette Menthol cream was discontinued because it's so good. The lather is so rich, it smells nice, and the cooling effect is almost as strong as Palmolive Menthol. The skincare is also good, and just a little cream is necessary. After using the Barbon aftershave and the 444 balsam, my face feels like it was in an icebox! ;) :D

This morning was a 2 pass DFS! The new Proraso is nice and chilly. That's what I need as I go through the heatwave that has hit.

Prep: Tepid Water Shower, Brush soaking in hot water
Razor: Gillette NEW Short Comb mounted on an Ikon Bulldog Handle
    Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum
Brush: Vintage Stanley Badger Hair Flat Top
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Ice cube rub, Second Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

Another day giving the Short Comb NEW a work out.

Not much to say except almost a DFS in one pass. After two passes and light buffing I have a smoother face than I ever did with any cartridge razor.

    Irish Moos SC
    Semogue 820 Boar
    Dicksinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea ASB
    Brut Original Cologne

This little Torrey has a lot of miles on it but it is one of my favorites. I take it on road trips because if I lost it I wouldn't be out that much (under $10.00 total. Got the blade off e-bay, polished it up, honed it up and scaled it with a vintage horn that I had as a left-over from another rescale.) The edge has a slight frown and a slight smile so I would call it more of a smirk. lol Great little shaver though and proves that you don't have to spend a lot to engage in the joy of straight shaving. In the bang for the buck category; it scores very high!

    Today's Featured Shower and Shave;

A long hot shower this morning, I enjoy using the Dove for Men bar soap. Great moisturizing for the skin, pleasant scent.

    Facial prep Proraso glycerin.

Working on breaking in my Semogue Owner's Club, it has been getting more lather time. It is breaking in very nicely, quickly become a brush favorite.

Soap choice RazoRock Don Marco. I'm a big fan and user of RazoRock products. Don Marco, has a great not overpowering scent, lathers up great. Razor glides nicely with the lather and good moisturizing too.

Razor choice Gillette black short handled SS with a Gillette 7'o'clock Yellow.

Final touches after two passes cold water splash, RazoRock alum, RazoRock Don Marco balm.
    A superior DFS.

Ok so I finally decided to try a "planned" cold water shave today.. It has been hovering at about 90 for the past few days, and I had heard many people bragging about how great a cold water shave feels so I went for it

Lather: Confianca O'Melhor Creme' de Barbear (thanks Leon)
Brush: Restored Solid Brass 22mm Silvertip
    Strop: SRD Premium 1 20/40 leather/linen
Razor: TI 7/8 with GS custom scales (more info)
    A/S: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

    Results:
Really nice shave, took a minute to figure out how the lather was going to work with ice cold water but it came alive, I was amazed with how close the frist stroke was, it seemed that the hair was harder (tougher) to cut, but the shave was closer [IMG] if that makes sense..
One WTG pass and some minor follow ups and I had a very very comfortable outcome..

Methinks I might try this a few more times while it stays hot up here...

    Eucerin cream
    Warm shower
    Omega Pro boar
    VDH deluxe
Merkur 37c (HD Slant) w/ generic American Personna SS
    Cetaphil Gentle cleanser
    Nivea Sensitive
Master Bay Rum (as a body splash to help cool off)

DFS by means of wtg, xtg, atg, minor touch-ups. Some irritation under jaw line ... like my 37c, but it can be finicky sometimes :kngt: . Back to my 23c tomorrow ... and MWF :happy036:.

On a side note: admiring Nick's SOTD posts on MWF tipped the balance in favor of acquiring some to try ... good call. Now, Nick's string of Tabac posts are starting to infiltrate the SSAD part of my brain  ... balance hasn't tipped yet ... still worried about the strength of the scent.
