I compared this razor side by side with the Ranger Tech using the same blade. This one feels a hair heavier than the Ranger but seems a bit less aggressive.

I think I haven't used any of my other brushes since I got it. Easily my favorite and hard to not justify buying another as "back-up." My only concern was going from an 18mm Omega up to the 22mm. It's so much bigger than my old brush so the face lather transition took some getting used to. Maybe I'll get a 20mm and meet half way...

This is something that non shaving enthusiasts (ie. disposable and electric razor users) don't do. Dream of their next shave! :)

Once again, with our weather turning very hot again I felt that an all-out menthol barrage was necessary, and this set-up worked perfectly for my shave. The Palmolive Menthol cream is so brrrrr cold and beautiful, and the Diana Sport balsam actually feels colder than the Osage Rub, although not by much. ;) :D

Good shave this morning. The Haslinger Sandalwood has lost most of its scent, unfortunately, but still worked great. I dropped the loft on the super badger from 56 to 50mm, what a change in feel and performance. This is where it needs to be, soft and dense, very nice. It will be a good face latherer now. Here's a pic of another handle I did last weekend, needs to be buffed and polished. 26mm knot.

Prep: Tepid Water Shower, Brush soaking in hot water
Razor: Gillette NEW Short Comb mounted on an ikon Bulldog Handle
    Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum
Brush: Vie-Long Beehive LE Brush in Natural Horse Hair
    Soap: English Fine Shaving Soap
    AS: Pinuad Clubman
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Ice cube rub, Second Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

After 6 straight days of using the Short Comb NEW I have put it within my top two razors (again). It may even over throw the FaTip Grande as my favorite.

The last three days of shaving I have had as close to a BBS that I can get in two passes with light buffing. The only spot where I have any slight area of stubble is on my adams apple, and even that is barely felt.

The soap I used today I have no idea what brand that it is. When I purcahsed the NEW from Frank, I had also purchased the Tabac, Supermax, and Lea. He had thrown in a few additional soaps and bunch of sample size products. This puck was wrapped in a wax paper and only had a black label that said "Fine English Shaving Soap".

Based on the way it lathers I am guessing that it is tallow based. This stuff exploded within seconds while loading the brush. After about a minute of building the lather I had more than enough for five passes if desired.

The Vie-Long LE Beehive Horse Hair Brush is continuing to impress me. The beehive shape feels very natural in my hand, and the hairs have enough backbone to really work the lather good into my face. The hairs are so soft enough that I do not feel my face is being scratched, as I do from my other Vie-Long.

Tomorrow I will go back to rotation, more than likely the FaTip, if for nothing else, just to compare it to the last 6 days of shaving with the NEW.

    Face Wash: Nivea Moisture Wash
    Razor Merkur 38M
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap/Cream: Mystic Water - Lemon Rose SS
Post: Witch Haze & Rum, Nivea Sensitive ASB

I love how MW soap just explodes with lather! This sample of her new lemon/rose soap is very, very nice. A very fresh, easy to enjoy scent combo. I think this combo will be a hit for those soap maker who picked up on the idea.

After writing off Astra SP's a few months ago, this second time trying them out is turning out a bit better. The tugging is not there, but the irritation still is. I'm using one more blade in the 38M, then I'll be trying the Astra in a few of my other razors to see if I find the perfect combo.

Nice 3 pass face,1 pass head shave from the Slim adjustable, first time in maybe 40 plus years since my last shave from a slim.I remember liking the Fatboy a lil better but now I'm not so sure. The Silver Blue was a first time for me as well and in the Slim it was very smooth, it might be a good alternative for the Blacks, certainly easier to get.
