I thought that I would try a method of shaving that I had read about. I used the Slant for WTG, the Open Comb for XTG and the Super Speed for ATG.
It worked extremely well. No weepers, cuts or irritation and a BBS shave.

    Pre: MRGLO, Proraso Pre
    Soap: C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream
    Brush: Omega 10049 Professional Boar
Razors: Merkur 37C Slant Bar with an Astra Superior,
Tradere Open Comb with a Super-Max Super Platinum,
Gillette Super Speed 1946 with an Astra Superior
    Post: Alum, Dickinson’s Witch Hazel
A/S: Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar

Last weeks were just crazy and the madness advances. Fast evening shave and then fall to bad to wake up in 6-00. Seems I'll get back to my regular life in mid-June... Off to the long trip by work. See you soon, guys and gals! Only the best shaves out there!

I grow my beard back when school's out for summer, which it is as of today, but I have to keep the neck clean. Two days growth, grabbed the Gem fliptop late model SE and Ted Pella blade. VDH soap. Razor is mild enough that there were no nicks even though I was buffing pretty fast. Mild irritation from the buffing but no blood, and that's what counts.

Yeah, burn me at the stake, but this plasticky hunkajunk is my only SE (for awhile, anyway).

Now where'd I stow the Osage Rub last fall...

Japanese style is just a blade with a handle that does not fold into itself. Western style has a handle that the blade folds into. There's more to hold onto
when using the western blade. The Japanese blade is smaller. Since I learned on the western style the Japanese is still a novel thing. That's not why I
nicked myself-it's the uber sharp quality of the Feather razor (and a brief loss of concentration) that cut me. The traditional blade of a straight razor is much more forgiving than the machine
honed monster of a Feather blade-I always like a challenge.

    Good morning.

My Wednesday shave ritual of about 2 hours ago was a quick one, I had to get up early today (yet again) and be at work before 06:00am. So I dialed the Futur to 3.5 and did a 1-pass across the grain plus some touch up on the neck. As there was not too much stubble to begin with from yesterday, this single pass did an outstanding job of delivering a DFS+! I was reading a bit of Leisureguy’s “Guide to Gourmet Shaving” last night (enjoyable not only for beginners, btw).

The couple of pages interesting me yesterday included the paragraph of “the sound of cutting whiskers” and the difference that one makes compared to “the sound of scraping skin”. I thought of that this morning and paid particular attention to finding out which one of the 2 sounds I was generating. And since I am have recently joined the Brotherhood of Futur Enthusiasts and the Futur still being my weapon of choice this week, I was rewarded with an outstanding sound experience. I guess it wasn’t in reality much different from my previous shaves with the Futur but, focusing on the sound (and the shave of course) made me realize just how audible that whisker chopping is with this razor.
Well, this ‘Concerto’ of sorts left me very well shaven and feeling great.

The Orchestra was composed of these individual performers very attuned to each other:

Martin de Candre ‘Savon de Marseille’ face wash
Martin de Candre ‘Lavender’ shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre
    Merkur Futur on 3.5
    Feather blade (5th shave)
    D.R. Harris Marlborough after shave

Wishing all of you a good evening, a good night and a great Wednesday ahead!

As always, a cold water shave. Built a nice bowl lather with 10 swirls of the VDH and one pump of KMF.

Three passes, some light buffing and touch ups for a DFS (although short lasted).

Menthol Tuesday-The Shave of the Futur:

    Hey All:

The GF likes the scruff so this weekend I was lazy and indulged, leaving me with a five day growth and my Futur to do battle.

I preshaved with some Proraso, and followed it up with some Proraso Cream. I was near bbs after two passes and the third pass was pure bliss.

A cold water splash, some witch hazel, Alcolado followed by some Vitos post and I was smooth. A splash of Nautica Blue and I am good to go.

Glad to read that your Futur gets such a treat once in a while and am sure it deals very effectively with it, Scott. I have mine now for about 1 week (if I recall correctly, I tried to lay blame for placing that Futur order with you and your posts... ;)) and we have become fast friends. I certainly am loving every single shave with it.

Another great soap which I received on Monday - this Lemon Ice gives really good lather with a nice scent and a pretty good cooling effect, although nowhere near as strong as the Awakenings soap that I used yesterday. The Alt Innsbruck added its own menthol blitz which I love so much. This was a wonderful shave, even if I say so myself! ;) :D
