SOTD: Vintage Sheffield-made 'Horn of Plenty' razor from William Greaves & Sons 'Sheaf Works,'(ca1830-40), Omega #627 silvertip badger brush, Crowne & Crane 'Lavender & Cedar' soap and Fine 'Snake Bite' aftershave tonic. Razor etching seemed apropos for a day in which many give thanks for the abundance of the year's blessings. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, gents!

Henri et Victoria Nautilus today. 20 seconds to load the Henri et Victoria High Mountain White brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Vintage Wilkinson Sword “Light Brigade” NEW Chromium in the Gillette Red Tip SS. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with Stirling Gentleman w/Menthol aftershave.

Thanksgiving day shave, i wish all of you a great respite, full of remembrance of the things that enrich our lives.
Today I started with a hot water wash, with a washcloth. I used my grandad's brush, skillfully weighted and refitted with a custom two band finest. I chose cranberry citrus soap, bombed to increase the coolness. I made two passes with a kinfolk's wedge straight razor. Then cleaned up with a superspeed my mom gave me. The result was a very smooth face. I finished with a two part process. First a wash with Crusellas Vetiver (heavy iced), then a rub of botanical balm (cranberry citrus). I'm smooth smellin nice and cooled.
Hope y'all did as well, or better.

 

Last night's shave was with an oldie, but goodie. I wasn't able to get to my straights. Excellent smooth 2 pass shave, with near BBS. results.

A very cautious, wary trip with my new razor. Feeling my way every step of the way, learning the correct angle is a bear. I have been using pivot head razors of all types for years, but this one is something else. I think I finally mastered the loading curve, but the jury is still out on the correct angle. A 2pass, WTG/ATG with a lot of partial, slurry type passes, finally resulting in a pretty decent shave (no blood), so I`m satisfied. We thank the Lord for the bounty we are about to receive this day.
