The October chill is in the air and it'll be freezing in my bathroom for:

    Menthol Monday!

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/new Derby
Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Stirling Glacial Obsidian AS Balm :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barrister & Mann Arctique AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

With this selection, a bone-chillingly cold shave is guaranteed. Once again an important heads-up to anyone who's as gutsy as I am. (or crazy like I am!) The Glacial Obsidian soap is like ALL Glacial soaps in the sense that they have extremely potent menthol. These soaps, in conjunction with their matching balms or aftershaves can be frigid to the point where anyone with sensitive skin will feel uncomfortable. The Arctique aftershave MUST be used very carefully - just a SMALL dab on both cheeks and around the neck because the menthol sensation is so intense that it can make your eyes tear and your nose run for hours, not to mention that it feels worse than liquid nitrogen on your skin. NEVER splash it on liberally, because you will suffer and I mean SUFFER. ;) :D

    Monday's
    ZCOLDWATER.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Soap Commander Renewal
    Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip
    Gillette NEW SC/Micromatic Bullet-tip * 1947 BYR
    Personna SS/GEM Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The Soap Commander Renewal face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip brush. First pass with the Gillette SC NEW followed by second pass with my Micromatic Bullet-tip razor and a GEM Stainless Single Edge blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Dove Beauty Cream bar face wash
    Star DE razor
    Gillette Platinum (1) blade
    Bestshave #6 brush
    Proraso Green shave soap
    3 passes WTG/XTG/ATG + touch-up.
    Homemade mentholated after shave splash

What's better than an early morning shave using menthol products? :)
I had a doctors appointment this morning, so I was up early and needed a shower and shave.
Being only 9 degrees outside it was a chill shave, that Proraso. But it woke me up alright :D
The Gillette Platinum blade is not a stellar performer in my Weber if I recall, but it did a great job in the Star.

    Nice BBS

I haven’t had a shave for three days or so, and was quite scruffy looking.
I therefore wanted to do another shave using The Exchange Soap. I had a great shave with it last time around and wanted to see if it worked just as well with a longer beard. The same argument can be used for my decision to use the same razor and blade combo as last time too.

The Super Iridium blade is one of my best performing blades and work extremely well in my Gillette Bell Tech Razor.

The blade being on its fifth shave had no trouble mowing down my beard. In fact it worked better today than many blades work on its first shave, despite the fact that I looked like a hobo this morning.

Today I decided to do what I usually do for my morning shaves, and that was to face lather. I loaded the brush for a good ten seconds and whipped up a decent amount of lather. It is not the best looking lather, and looks kind of thin, but it work really well. I find it to be very slick and very good to shave with. I believe the skin care abilities to be pretty good as well, although I seldom put much weight to that, my face feels pretty good and I did not need to use a balm after my shave.

My main reservation about this soap is the smell. I mentioned this in my last post, but I do not like it. In fact I am afraid I will come to dislike it. I tried describing it last time as an oiled kind of mentholy kind of leather. Now it reminds me of an industrial leather type of scent. Maybe an unnatural leather scent. I am still not sure, but I am fascinated by the fact that it is not a string scent. But it still fills the room in a subtle way.
I still think it is very well done, I just don’t like it.

    Razor: Gillette Bell Tech
    Blade: Iridium Super
    Brush: Frank Shaving
Soap: The Soap Exchange Company - Texas Leather
    Aftershave: Lucido

    Weepy Monday
My eyes weeped a little bit from the menthol, and my neck weeped a bit from the Futur. I am dealing with allergies this morning, so perhaps my concentration was off a bit, and a few weepers are my punishment. I also did not use any pre shave, so that could have contributed. Otherwise it was a nice shave.
I didn't have as much Krampert's aftershave as I thought, so I had to polish off my AV to wrap up this shave. I'm going to order a refill of the Krampert's in a couple months.

    Prep: none
    Soap: Krampert's Finest Frostbite
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
AS: Krampert's Finest Frostbite, Aqua Velva Ice Blue Sport
