I noticed that gradually over time my stop is beginning to turn black. I'm sure this is just metal. I have never applied any kind of product to this particular stop. Just wondering what I could use to clean it. Thinking maybe saddle soap or even just clear water on a towel.

I wipe my strops with a damp rag every few months. You can rub back and forth a little bit to get the surface stuff off. Let the strop dry 24-48 hours before using. If needed you can then condition or oil the leather.

Clean and condition with either saddle soap or mink oil paste, but do not use so much the leather is saturated just enough to clean up a bit and condition the leasther
