I need a good quality 24mm Boar knot that will fit in one of @twhite s B400 handles. I had one that was soft, but a chronic shredder. 10-20 per shave, and there was no slowing it down. I'm willing to buy a brush, just for the knot. It just needs to be 24mm.
https://www.stirlingsoap.com/boar-brush-24mm-x-57mm/ You'll have to remove the plastic. http://www.thegoldennib.com/wet-shaving/badger-hair-knots/boar-knots/24mm-banded-boar-knot.html
I'm not a fan of synthetics. I have a few, and its just not for me. Excellent. Those look very promising. Thanks.
It will be one of the two. The Stirling says it's a 57mm loft vs. The Golden Nibs 5omm loft. I'm leaning towards the Stirling, only because of the loft.
Omega 10066 Total Height ... 106mm Loft ... 56mm Knot ... 24mm Handle Height ... 50mm Handle Waist ... 28mm Price $9.75 @ Maggards But this is only brought up because Omegas have great knots and the Stirling brush is too pretty to destroy.
To be quite honest I really like my Omega, but that said either one would probably be great. I only saw a couple bad reviews of the Stirling, but all in all very favorable. I just really like the Stirling handle and hate to see it trashed.
If you're looking for a soft boar, I've heard that these are the way to go, I've never used one myself. http://www.thegoldennib.com/wet-shaving/badger-hair-knots/boar-knots/24mm-boar.html
Well, I ordered both, The Omega 10066, and the Stirling. Both supposedly 24 mm. I received them both today. Both are basically around $10. The Stirling knot looks much larger than the Omega, even at the base. Maybe Omega is including the plastic holder in its measurements. I will have to dig out my electronic caliper to see. Both knots are very soft, from the start. Both have the usual Boar Odor. The Omega has a little more backbone, but is still soft at the tips. I did notice the Stirling Handle is beautify, too nice to cut up. The Stirling hairs are much finer, and smaller in diameter, than the Omega. Both lathered well, but the Stirling did a better job, because, well it just did. It held the soap better, splayed easier, and whipped up the lather, slightly better. Both are well worth the $10 , but the Stirling looks and feels like at least $30. No way is the Stirling going to be chopped up.
That Stirling is a nice looking brush, but for 10 bucks you can get another and use this one for the knot.

This is the same knot. http://www.thegoldennib.com/wet-shaving/badger-hair-knots/boar-knots/27mm-boar-knot.html This is one I cut out and used.
