For the entire month of October, I switched back and forth my to open combs. One is the typical short handled l long tooth open comb, the second one is a tech style short tooth open comb. As the month went along I was using the longer handle open comb more then the short handled one. While the shaves from both were similar, the long handled one gave a slightly better shave overall. As the month went along I long to use my slant. I was happy to 1 November arrived. While I enjoyed using my open combs for an entire month, I really like my slant much more. The slant instantly gave me shaves that are definitely above the combs. Smoother, less pulling. The combs will be rotated in and out as before, definitely not for entire month. The slant has become my go to razor. It took a month to fully understand that and why.
I have 3 slant heads. A Merkur 37C, PAA OC Bakelite and a Malcuto/Muller based Maggard slant head. All shave well, but I like the Maggard the most and it's a daily driver for me.
I piffed my Merkur 37C. I now have the PAA Slant and a Maggard slant. I like them both. Maggard slant with handle by @twhite .
