HI welcome. My first razor was a Merkur 38. Its very heavy and very good, still one of my favourites. I rarely use a preshave oil but I do like the Truefit and Hill Ultimate Comfort, if only cause it has a tangerine citrusy scent. Good luck and keep us all posted!
